Westport Police Department announces passing of one of their own
The Westport Police Department announced with deep sadness the passing of one of their own who faithfully served the Westport Police Department for many years.
“Retired Officer David Morrisette graduated from the Plymouth Police Academy in 1988 as a member of the 10th MPOC. Before becoming a full-time officer, David dedicated many years to the department as a Reserve Police Officer, demonstrating early on his commitment to serving the Town of Westport. He went on to serve proudly as both a Patrolman and Motorcycle Officer, roles in which he was well respected by his colleagues and the community alike.
“Throughout his career, he exemplified professionalism, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to duty. A fellow officer shared, “A lot of insight and wisdom was passed on to fellow officers by Officer Morrisette. He was kind and always willing to help.” That sentiment truly captures who David was, a mentor, a trusted partner, and a friend.
“His contributions to this department and to our community will not be forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of service, experience, and quiet dedication that helped shape our department and positively impact countless lives.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of serving alongside him. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
“Rest easy, Officer Morrisette. Thank you for your service.”
