Westport Police arrest town resident after being accused of Indecent Assault and Battery on a friend

A local man is facing disturbing charges after being arrested this week.
According to police, on Monday, a female came to the Westport Police Station to report she had been assaulted in the woods behind Sisson Brook Lane. She stated she had come to check on a friend, David DeVeau of Sisson Brook Lane, who had recently gone through a breakup. She stated she and DeVeau went on a walk through the woods behind his home when he forced himself on her and assaulted her.
She reported the incident to the Westport Police Department on Tuesday. As a result of that incident, the Detective Unit applied for and was granted a warrant for DeVeau’s arrest.
DeVeau was arrested on Wednesday by members of the Westport Police Department without incident at his home. He was transported to court, held overnight, and released the next day with a GPS bracelet. He was charged with 3 counts of Indecent Assault and Battery on a Person Over 14 and 1 count of Assault with Intent to Rape.
