A Westport man is being remembered after he was killed in a weekend motorcycle crash.

According to Tiverton Police, on Sunday just after 5:00 p.m., Officers of the Tiverton Police Department responded to Route 24 northbound for the report of a motorcycle crash.

Upon arrival, officers found a 2003 gray Harley Davidson motorcycle heavily damaged with debris in the roadway. Preliminary investigation revealed 27-year-old Michael Lees of Westport, was traveling northbound on Route 24 in the area of Exit 4 in the low-speed lane when his motorcycle suddenly left the lane of travel. Lees appears to have lost control of the motorcycle as he changed lanes and suffered a serious head injury.

Lees was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Those who knew Lees, and there were many, described him as a hardworking man who was generous and an all-around great guy. Lees was also owner of Lees Landscaping & Excavation at Westport Point since 2020.

Services have yet to be announced.

The accident remains under investigation.

Did he have on a helmet? If not then Rhode Island needs to pass the law that everyone wears one. Sick of seeing people die this way. It’s so sad to see so much loss of life when it could have possibly been prevented. The concrete is going to win 10/10 times. His family is in my thoughts and prayers.

They’re saying he hit a car I don’t believe it if anything a car must have hit him and took off if he hit a car that person would have stopped., I say it’s the other way around. He was my grandson’s good friend they went golfing together. This is so heartbreaking 🥲🥲🥲
