Westport man facing several charges including rape of a child by force granted bail with conditions after dangerousness hearing

A local man who is facing some disturbing charges has been granted bail with conditions.
According to Westport Police, on Friday, Westport Police Detectives, with the assistance of the Swansea Police Department, arrested Steven Correia of Blossom Road, Westport on a felony arrest warrant.
An arrest warrant was granted after an investigation, which resulted in the charges of Rape of a Child with Force (two counts), Aggravated Rape of a Child under 12, Aggravated Rape of a Child over 12, Indecent Assault & Battery on a Child Under 14 (2 counts), and Indecent A&B on a Person 14 or Over.
Correia was initially held on $100,000 bail. After Monday’s arraignment, he pled not guilty and was ordered held with no bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for last Tuesday at the Fall River Justice Center.
At Tuesday’s hearing, according to court records, Correia was granted $10,000 cash bail. Among some of the bail conditions are electronic monitoring – GPS, no contact with victim/witness, staying away from victim/witness, and no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 17.
Correia’s next scheduled court appearance is a probable cause hearing next month.
