Westport man facing several charges including rape of a child by force

A local man is facing some disturbing charges.

According to police, on Friday, Westport Police Detectives, with the assistance of the Swansea Police Department, arrested Steven Correia of Blossom Road, Westport on a felony arrest warrant.

An arrest warrant was granted after an investigation, which resulted in the charges of Rape of a Child with Force (two counts), Aggravated Rape of a Child under 12, Aggravated Rape of a Child over 12, Indecent Assault & Battery on a Child Under 14 (2 counts), and Indecent A&B on a Person 14 or Over.

Correia was initially held on $100,000 bail. After arraignment, he was ordered held with no bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Tuesday at the Fall River Justice Center.
