Westport man arrested after allegedly driving stolen skid steer
A local man is accused of stealing a piece of machine equipment and driving it down the road.
According to Deputy Chief of Police Robert Rebello, on Saturday, Westport officers responded to a report of stolen skid steer.
Robert DeMello, of Horseneck Road, was found by officers driving the skid steer south down Sanford Road in the northbound lane.
Upon speaking with DeMello, it was determined he had stolen the skid steer along with other items he had sold for scrap.
DeMello was subsequently arrested and is being charged with one count of Larceny Over $1200.
