Westport firefighters rescue elderly woman trapped in woods
Local firefighters came to the rescue of an elderly woman on Thursday.
According to the Westport Fire Department, Westport Firefighter/Paramedics responded to a report of an elderly female stuck in the brush in the area of Bridge Street by the beaches.
On arrival, personnel found a female who was unfamiliar with the area that had lost her way while walking her dog along the beach and became entangled in the brush.
Exhausted and hampered by thick brush and a chain link fence, she was unable to make her way out of the wooded area on her own and called 911 for assistance.
Firefighters cleared the brush and were able to safely assist her out of the wooded area. She was evaluated and found to be uninjured. Firefighters then provided her and her dog with a ride back to her vehicle.
