Westport Fire, Police, paramedics, respond to early morning crash with injuries

Crews responded to a motor vehicle crash with injuries early Sunday morning.

Westport Fire and Police were dispatched to a reported vehicle into the woods in the area of 259 Division Road just before 6:30 a.m.

The driver reported that his leg was wedged under the dashboard.

According to the Westport Fire Department, firefighters used the Jaws of Life to extricate the single occupant of the vehicle, who was transported with non-life-threatening injuries to a local hospital.

Engine 3, Rescue 2, Car 1 responded. Off duty and on-call firefighters were recalled to assist at the scene and backfill the stations.

The crash is under investigation.
