Westport Fire Department extinguishes blaze at historic home
Westport Firefighters battled a fire at a historic home Monday with help from local departments.
According to the Westport Fire Department, at approximately 3:13 p.m., the WFD received a report of a structure fire at 625 Sanford Road in Westport.
Upon arrival, first responders reported smoke and fire coming from the rear of the structure, a single-family residence that is listed as a historical house, built in the 1800’s.
The fire was under control within 45 minutes, however substantial damage to the exterior and attic area occurred to the structure.
The fire department remained on scene investigating the cause.
The fire caused an estimated $50,000 loss to the building and contents.
Westport responded with 3 Engines and was assisted by Dartmouth District 3, Tiverton, & Little Compton Fire Departments at the scene.
There were no injuries reported.
