Westport, Fall River, and Portsmouth police combine to arrest local man on larceny, identity fraud charges
Several local police departments combine to arrest a man accused of identity fraud.
According to Westport Police, on Thursday, Fall River Major Crimes Division and Portsmouth Police (RI) assisted Westport Detectives in the execution of a search warrant on Highland Avenue in Fall River.
Westport Detectives began a month-long investigation into 28-year-old Keyshaun Taylor after receiving two reports from local businesses of money being illicitly transferred from bank accounts.
During the investigation a Portsmouth Police Detective assigned to Homeland Security, contacted Westport regarding Taylor’s criminal activity in Rhode Island where Taylor was already wanted on similar charges.
As a result of the search warrant, Detectives gathered evidence to aid in the investigation.
Taylor was placed under arrest on a warrant taken out by Westport for two counts of Larceny Over $1200, twelve counts of Identity Fraud and a False Statement to Obtain a Credit Card. He was booked at the Fall River Police Department where he was also charged with being a Fugitive from Justice.
Westport Police stated that as identity theft continues to rise, it is important to be proactive to protect yourselves, especially in the digital space where many thefts can occur behind a screen.
