Fall River, MA – An educator in communities throughout Massachusetts including Westport, Boston, Plymouth, and Harvard University, has released his first published book.
Dylan Collins introduces The Misguided Adventures of Billy Mulligan, a book that Collins hopes will help youth respect their parents and make positive decisions with a story designed to captivate young readers.
Edited by Red Rock Publishers, the book follows an energetic second grader whose attempt to avoid responsibility leads to an unforgettable series of events.
The book offers families and educators a resource for encouraging positive habits and personal accountability.
In The Misguided Adventures of Billy Mulligan, readers meet Billy Mulligan, a curious young boy whose bedroom has become the world’s messiest room. Rather than cleaning up the growing clutter, Billy chooses a shortcut that he believes will solve the problem without any effort. His clever plan quickly spirals into unexpected chaos, teaching him that avoiding responsibility often creates even greater challenges. Through humor and entertaining situations, the story reinforces the value of honesty, perseverance, and making wise decisions.
Collins wrote the book to help children understand that everyday choices shape character and that even simple responsibilities deserve attention.
Inspired by situations that many families experience, he crafted a story that uses comedy and imagination to communicate meaningful lessons without losing the excitement of adventure.
Collins’ goal is to encourage young readers to embrace responsibility while recognizing that mistakes can become valuable opportunities for learning and growth. Beyond its playful narrative, the book explores themes of accountability, integrity, problem solving, and personal growth. It reminds children that facing challenges directly is often easier than avoiding them and that taking responsibility for one’s actions builds confidence and trust. Collins also wants the book to spark opportunities for meaningful conversations between children, parents, teachers, and caregivers about making positive everyday choices.
The book is now available at select local libraries or on Amazon.com.
