Westport, Dartmouth, Tiverton Fire Departments extinguish blaze that severely damages home

Multiple local fire departments responded to an early morning blaze on Sunday.

Westport Firefighters just cleared the scene of a house fire at 253 Main Road that began just before 4:00 a.m.

According to the department, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire on arrival but were able to make an aggressive interior attack and quickly knock the bulk of the fire down.

There were no injuries.

The American Red Cross is assisting the homeowners.

Mutual aid from Dartmouth District 3 and Tiverton was received.
