Two local fire departments made quick work of a fire at a residence on Wednesday morning.

According to the Westport Fire Department, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Westport Firefighters were dispatched to a reported structure fire on Tickle Road.

A wood stove had caught some piled firewood and an interior wall of the home on fire. The fire was contained to the area of origin and damage was kept to a minimum.

Station 2, the first due station to this area, was dispatched to a separate call just prior to this incident. Engine 3, from the south end, was assisted on scene by an engine from Tiverton Fire, along with off-duty staff and Westport Chief 1 & Chief 2. Dartmouth Fire District 3 was cancelled prior to arrival.
