Wanted Fall River man held without bail in city murder, has bail revoked for role in separate double homicide

A Fall River man who was wanted concerning a city murder faced a judge on Thursday.

According to Jennifer Sowa of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, 26-year-old Tajon Saxon appeared Thursday in the Fall River Superior Court where he was arraigned on Murder and Firearms charges related to the May 13, 2023, Homicide of 23-year-old Diamonte Odom in Fall River.

Saxon was held without bail without prejudice on those charges.  His bail was revoked in the case where he has been charged with two counts of Accessory to Murder After the Fact in connection to the May 2021 Fall River double homicide of Jovaughn Mills and Miguel Sanjurjo.  In addition, Saxon was arraigned today in the Fall River Superior Court for Failure to Appear.  The Court set bail in the amount of $25,000 on that case.  All matters are next scheduled for January 13, 2025.

Saxon had been at large for almost a year and was the subject of an intensive manhunt. He was located and apprehended Wednesday in the City of New Bedford by the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section.

Massachusetts State Police continued pursuing leads up and down the east coast – from Florida, South Carolina, and across New England. These investigatory efforts culminated in an address check by State and New Bedford Police personnel who located Saxon hiding in the bathroom of a 3rd floor apartment. Police took Saxon into custody without incident and transported to him to the Dartmouth Barracks for booking.

On May 13, 2023, just before 10:45 p.m., Fall River Police responded to multiple 911 calls regarding shots fired in the area of 275 County Street. Upon arrival, first responders located Odom suffering from a gunshot wound to his face. He was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased during the early morning hours of May 14th.

“I would like to commend the persistent efforts of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section for locating this defendant and taking him into custody.  The defendant evaded police for almost a year.  He is facing serious charges, and I am pleased that the judicial process can now begin”, District Attorney Tom Quinn said.

“Massachusetts State Troopers assigned to the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section work collaboratively with our partners every day to pursue, locate, and apprehend individuals wanted for violent crimes that negatively impact quality of life,” Massachusetts State Police Colonel Geoffrey Noble said. “I also commend the New Bedford and Fall River Police Departments whose integral partnership enabled the team to deliver this case to prosecutors at the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.”
