Volunteers in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, the country, have organized protests planned against ICE
ICE protests are being organized across the country including locally in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Volunteers are mobilizing this weekend asking the Trump Administration to permanently remove ICE from their communities after a woman Wednesday was fatally shot by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The volunteers suggest that the “killing is part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence, impunity, and abuse carried out by federal immigration enforcement agencies against members of our communities.”
Members of the Trump Administration have stated that the shooting was justified.
While the protests are scheduled across the country, closer to home, a protest is scheduled in Tiverton, RI from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday at a location that was not being released. In New Bedford, the event will take place from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the commuter rail overpass at 536 Acushnet Avenue.
A map has been created showing where all protests are expected to take place to mobilize volunteers.
