Vigil to be held to remember southeastern Massachusetts man killed in alleged road rage incident
A vigil is being held to remember a southeastern Massachusetts man who was allegedly killed in a road rage incident.
“Please Don’t Forget Brent Berkeley” will take place at the same spot exactly one year later where the 41-year-old from Plymouth lost his life.
On October 25, 2024, Plymouth Police received multiple 911 calls reporting a person had been shot in the Middle Street downtown parking lot.
Upon arrival, Plymouth Police located a male victim — later identified as Berkeley — suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators determined that Berkeley and 24-year-old David Jerome were involved in a minor traffic incident, and a physical altercation between the two ensued before the shooting occurred.
Witnesses on scene identified Jerome, who was subsequently placed under arrest by Plymouth Police for Berkeley’s murder.
Brent was described as a hardworking and dedicated father of 2 who truly was one of a kind and everyone that knew him loved him.
According to an obituary, “Brent enjoyed the great outdoors and loved camping, snowboarding, and hiking. He was a kind gentle man who never met a stranger, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anybody in need.”
A GoFundMe fundraiser has raised nearly $180,000 dollars for his children and fiancée.
Those attending the vigil, which will take place from 8:00 p.m. to midnight, are asked to bring a candle or light. Some lights will also be available.
