“Dear Atlantis community,
“I am incredibly saddened to share news of the passing of one of our high school students. Bentley Souza was involved in an accident earlier today and did not survive. On behalf of our entire school community, I share my deepest condolences with all who knew Bentley, but especially his family and close friends, who are enduring an unimaginable loss at this time.”
A GoFundMe fundraiser has been created for funeral expenses.
Those who knew Souza described him as a good kid who was one of the nicest people you could meet. He would give you the shirt off of his back. Souza brought joy and love to the hearts of others and was often seen laughing and smiling. He died doing one of the things he loved.
Friends of Souza have announced that tonight at 8:00 p.m. there will be a candlelight vigil outside of 991 Jefferson Street. All are welcome.
No word yet on the exact cause of Souza’s fatal injuries.
