Vigil organized after Rhode Island pregnant mother and missing man both found dead in separate incidents

A vigil has been organized by a community rocked by two deaths less than 48 hours apart.

The Milagros Project of Woonsocket has announced that the vigil will be held on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at River Island Park.

“Woonsocket has been yet hit by a wave of sadness and unnecessary tragedies. The loss of Efrain Espinosa and now Gabriella Vallejo and her unborn child, lost to an incidence of domestic violence. These issues continue to be at the very surface of our city. Mental health issues, domestic violence, and violence within our community. We need to continue to be unified in working together…..We will host a community wide vigil to remind the community that they are not alone. If you are suffering there are people you can reach out to.”

28-year-old Efrain Espinosa of Woonsocket was reported missing by his family on Saturday stating he was in need of immediate medical attention.

Family members last saw him alive on Tuesday at 11:30 p.m., after which he reportedly fled from them.

According to Patch Rhode Island, on Wednesday, at approximately 12:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a body floating face-down in the Blackstone River near the South Main Street Bridge. Officers found the body caught in brush on the riverbank. Woonsocket and Cumberland fire personnel recovered it, and the Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiner took custody.

No foul play or suspicious circumstances are suspected at this time.

The cause of death is under investigation.

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been created for funeral expenses.

29-year-old Gabriela (Gabby) Vallejo was found dead from multiple stab wounds to her neck on Thursday inside the Glenark Mills Apartments on Sayles Street.

Her boyfriend, 30-year-old William Santiago Ramos, has been charged with Domestic Violence – Murder – 1st Degree, Sexual Offender – Failure to Notify of Change in Address, and Obstructing Officer in Execution of Duty.

Court records show that at Friday’s arraignment, Ramos did not enter a plea and was held without bail.

Vallejo, who was pregnant, is also the mother of a young child.
