Vigil and services announced for Fall River man well known in skating community
A man well known in the Fall River skating community has passed away.
According to an obituary, 34-year-old Matthew Quintal died Saturday at his home.
“He worked as a machinist, a trade in which he took pride, using his skills and dedication to provide for his family. Outside of work, he had a passion for skateboarding which brought him joy and freedom. He will be missed very much by the skater community. Matthew was very well known for his skating ability at Abbott court in Fall River. Matthew also won many skating competitions in Rhode Island. He loved spending time in the outdoors, especially when he was fishing. His greatest happiness came from the time he shared with his daughter, who was the center of his world and the source of his deepest love and happiness. He also treasured time spent with friends. Matthew was a loyal friend who was loved by everyone, from the families of his childhood friends to those he grew close with in adulthood. Many turned to him for support and Matt would help many even when fighting with his own demons. Matt was a loving and caring person that touched the lives of everyone around him.”
A vigil will be held Sunday 9-28-25 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Abbot Court Park on Birch Street. Bring a candle if you can.
His calling hours will take place in the Manuel Rogers Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Monday, September 29th from 4-8 P.M. with a service at 7 P.M by Ines Bates. Cremation to follow.
