Victim’s name released in fatal Tiverton fire Monday
Family and authorities have released the name of a man who died after a major fire at a Tiverton home.
The victim in Monday afternoon’s two alarm fire is 26-year-old Mark Bassaly.
Mark’s father Emad left the following message today on social media.
“Our beloved Mark was taken away from us suddenly and tragically yesterday. All who knew him will remember him as a gentle soul. A boy who loves food, music, car rides. He loved his family and was well known in his community. It is hard to believe this has happened and we do not know what life will look like from now on. He was a wonderful son, brother, cousin, and friend. He is now with God and the Angels in Heaven where he belongs. We did not deserve him.”

At approximately 5:15 p.m., a call came in for heavy fire from the roof of 197 Church Pond Drive with a report of one person trapped inside.
Bassaly was located by responders and transported to St. Anne’s Hospital where he later passed away.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
