Victim’s name released concerning fatal crash in East Providence that injured another
The name of the victim has been released in a fatal weekend crash in East Providence.
According to police, on Saturday, East Providence Police responded to the area of the Riverside Branch Public Library on Bullocks Point Avenue for a report of a motor vehicle crash at approximately 1:50 p.m.
Once on scene, officers observed a Toyota Rav-4 with front-end damage. The operator, a 78-year-old man from East Providence, appeared to have suffered a medical episode prior to the crash. A female passenger in the front seat sustained minor injuries. Both were transported to Rhode Island Hospital by rescue.
Randel Waycott was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police and WJAR.
The department’s Traffic Division and Accident Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash.
