Veterans Memorial Bridge to see temporary closures for two weeks due to maintenance testing
SOMERSET/FALL RIVER – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has announced it will be conducting multiple scheduled daytime test openings for the Veterans Memorial Bridge located on Route 6 over Taunton River between Fall River and Somerset.
The scheduled test openings will begin on Monday, March 27, and take place weekly, Monday through Friday, at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 2:00 p.m. for approximately two weeks. Each bridge opening is expected to last approximately 12 minutes.
The test openings are necessary to perform operational and maintenance testing of the bridge system components to ensure the continued safe operation of the drawbridge.
MassDOT advises motorists to expect delays during these times.
The schedule for this work is weather and emergency dependent and subject to change without notice.
All scheduled work is weather dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency.
