Vehicle collision near Route 44 snaps telephone pole, leads to tree fire
A crash near Route 44 led to a fire and damage to a pole.
According to the Lakeville Fire Department, a call came in just before noon Friday for a car that had crashed into a utility pole on Cross Street near Shamrock.
Responders arrived to find the vehicle empty, the operator had left the area.
A utility pole was snapped and blocked the road.
Arching wires caused a fire in a nearby tree. Engine 1 remained on scene until utility crews could make the area safe.
The incident is under investigation.
