A young Rhode Island girl has died after injuries sustained in a recent incident.

On Monday morning at approximately 7:00 a.m. near Hamlet Avenue and Manville Road in Woonsocket, RI, Dena and her 4-year-old daughter Eliza were struck by a car in a tragic accident after the vehicle lost control and struck a snowbank.

A GoFundMe fundraiser has released more details on their conditions.

“Dena suffered multiple broken bones, including her collarbones, ribs, and a fracture in her leg. She is currently unconscious and facing numerous surgeries.

“We are heartbroken to share the passing of our beloved Eliza. Surrounded by family and loved ones throughout this tragic time, she is now at peace and free from suffering. Dena underwent surgery and was able to hold Eliza in her final moments. Our family is devastated and preparing for the challenging road ahead as we arrange funeral services for our precious Eliza. We are deeply grateful for the community’s thoughts, prayers, and generous support during this unimaginable loss.”

Donations will go toward medical expenses, transportation, the funeral, and any needs that arise as they focus on recovery and healing.

The incident is still under investigation.
