UPDATE: Possible firearm threat, racial slurs, at Fall River school causing concern
A social media post is raising some eyebrows in the Fall River community.
A mother who stated that her son attends a Fall River public school posted the following on Tuesday.
Fall River Reporter contacted the woman. She issued an update as to why she removed the post and told us that the school in question is Watson Elementary.
“I did speak with a superintendent, but please don’t get it mistaken, if things do not change, I will be making more noise. The only reason I deleted the post is because people were creating their own narratives of what happened. I will always stand up for my son.”
School Committee Member Collin Dias stated on Wednesday that the committee is looking into the situation.
“Yesterday, a Facebook post raised very serious concerns about a possible firearm threat connected to one of our Fall River Public Schools.
“Since then, multiple members of the School Committee have reached out to Superintendent Tracy Curley asking for answers.”
Dias noted that the legitimacy of the post is being looked into, and parents should have a talk with their children.
“Until the School Department or Police Department publicly confirm that there is no threat, I urge parents to communicate with their children about safety and awareness.”
