Update issued after 9-year-old child collides with vehicle carrying gunshot victim in Fall River
A child who collided with a vehicle in Fall River on Friday night is out of the hospital, according to police.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m. when a 9-year-old child riding a bicycle collided with the side of a car on Choate Street. The vehicle was transporting a 17-year-old gunshot victim to the hospital at the time of the crash.
According to WJAR10, Fall River police say that the driver stopped briefly after the collision, provided his name to the child’s mother, and then continued driving to the hospital to drop off the shooting victim. The driver later returned to the scene on Choate Street.
The child was initially transported to the hospital as a precaution and has since been released.
The 17-year-old gunshot victim also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooting remains under active investigation.
