Unfathomable tragedy: Massachusetts firefighter’s wife, two newborns, pass away after taken off life support
Sometimes tragedies in life can’t be explained. The pain a Massachusetts man is currently going through shouldn’t have to be experienced by anyone.
On December 16th, Rutland Firefighter Patrick Sullivan’s pregnant wife Ciara experienced a severe medical emergency requiring immediate and significant medical intervention.
As a result, their twin babies were delivered prematurely via emergency C-section and were placed on ventilators in addition to Ciara.
Overnight, 30-year-old Ciara along with their 11-day-old twins, James and Elizabeth, passed away after being taken off life support.
According to the Rutland Fire Department, Ciara was a dedicated public servant, having previously worked as a 911 dispatcher and was serving as an Emergency Management Specialist for FEMA.
The community has come together to support the Sullivan family, previously holding a candlelight vigil and raising over $75,000 through an online fundraiser.
While Patrick is currently enduring an unthinkable tragedy, he expressed on social media how thankful he is for all of the support.
Our thoughts are with the Sullivan family.
