U.S. Marshals, Fall River, Rockland, Massachusetts State Police make arrest in city shooting that injured multiple people

The Fall River Police Department and partners have made an arrest concerning a shooting incident at a city establishment that injured 3 people.

According to police, in the early morning hours on Wednesday, MCD Detectives traveled to Rockland in an effort to apprehend 33-year-old Juan Ortiz. Detectives have been actively investigating and tracking Ortiz in connection with the shooting that occurred at Iced Out Pub on December 18th.

With the assistance of the Massachusetts State Police, the United States Marshals Service, and the Rockland Police Department, a search was conducted at a residence in Rockland. During the search, Ortiz was located hiding inside a closet, wearing Cheetos-patterned pajama pants, and was taken into custody without incident.

Juan Ortiz was arrested and transported to the Fall River Police Department, where he was charged with the following:

• Assault and Battery with a Firearm (three counts)

• Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Loaded

• Assault and Battery Causing Serious Bodily Injury (two counts)

• Discharging a Firearm Within 500 Feet of a Building

This investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to collect and analyze evidence.
