Two Walgreens locations in Fall River and Swansea set closing dates

Two local pharmacies are set to close.
Late last year according to NBC, Walgreens Pharmacy announced plans to close up to 1,200 “underperforming stores” by 2027.
According to CNBC data, approximately one-quarter of Walgreens’ 8700 locations were considered “unprofitable” by the company and could close.
The pharmacy stated that “increased regulatory and reimbursement pressures are weighing on our ability to cover the costs associated with rent, staffing, and supply needs.”
According to their website, the Walgreens location at 510 Wilbur Avenue in Swansea will permanently close on June 23rd. The location at 1512 South Main Street is scheduled to close on June 26th.
The Walgreens location at 933 Pleasant Street in Fall River closed in February.
The closest Walgreens to Swansea besides the closing Wilbur Avenue location is Buffinton Street in Somerset.
Fall River has Walgreens locations on Rhode Island Avenue and Plymouth Avenue.
