A two-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon caused injuries and shut down a portion of a local highway.

According to the Lakeville Fire Department, at approximately 2:30 p.m., a significant motor vehicle crash occurred on Bedford Street (Route 18), just south of Tamarack Park. A passenger vehicle collided with a roll-off container transport truck, prompting a multi-agency emergency response.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital with injuries that, fortunately, did not appear to be life-threatening. The truck operator was evaluated on scene and did not require transport.

Bedford Street was closed for more than a half hour as crews worked to secure the scene and clear the roadway. The closure disrupted local traffic and caused delays to afternoon school bus routes.
