Two transported to the hospital, one with serious injuries after head-on Cape Cod crash
Two were taken to a hospital after a head-on crash on Cape Cod.
According to police, on Saturday, at approximately 10:25 p.m., Bourne Police and Bourne Fire & Rescue responded to Sandwich Road in the vicinity of Longboat Road for a reported head-on motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles.
Upon arrival first responders extricated one entrapped vehicle operator.
Based upon the preliminary investigation, a 2015 Nissan Rogue operated by a 25-year-old male from Burlington crossed the centerline, striking a 2003 GMC Sierra head-on.
The operator of the Nissan sustained possible minor injuries.
The operator of the GMC had serious injuries.
Both operators were transported by rescue to off-Cape medical facilities.
The roadway was closed with the assistance of MASS DOT while the investigation and debris removal operations were conducted.
The roadway was reopened at approximately 3:00 a.m.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Bourne Police Department with assistance from the Cape Cod Regional Law Enforcement Council Accident Reconstruction Team.
