Two transported to New Bedford hospital after early morning crash on Route 79
Multiple people were taken to a trauma center after an early morning crash.
According to the Lakeville Fire Department, responders were dispatched for a car versus a utility pole just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning on Route 79 (Myricks Street). Ambulance 3 and Engine 1 arrived at the scene within 6 minutes.
A recall was transmitted for supplemental staffing, allowing Ambulance 2 and Car 2 to join the response.
Two patients were transported to St. Lukes Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. Three more people were evaluated by firefighters at the scene but were not transported.
Firefighters also responded to 42 Lebaron Blvd (55+ apartment building) for an alarm activation at the time of the crash. The cause of the alarm appears to be a system malfunction.
