Two rushed to the hospital after head-on crash in Rhode Island
Crews responded to a serious head-on crash in Rhode Island this morning.
According to Coventry Police, at just after 9:15 a.m., Coventry PD along with Central Coventry, Anthony, and Hopkins Hill Fire Departments responded to the area of 500 Arnold Road for a two-car motor vehicle accident with injuries.
Arriving officers found that both operators were injured with one trapped inside her vehicle. Firefighters extricated that operator from her vehicle, and she was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by a Lifestar helicopter with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The second operator was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by rescue also with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. There were no other occupants in either vehicle.
Several witnesses to the accident reported that one vehicle had drifted over the double yellow line into the lane of travel of the second causing the collision, however, there were no indications of impairment on scene.
Arnold Road was shut down for a few hours, but has since reopened.
The accident remains under investigation.
