Two of four plead not guilty, held without bail, after man severely assaulted, zip tied in Fall River

2 of 4 people arrested after a previous Fall River assault appeared in Fall River Superior Court Monday.

According to police, on January 14, 2025, Patrol Bureau responded to Rocliffe Street for a report of a male on the ground bleeding. Officer Anyeric Castillo was the initial investigating officer and determined that the victim had been severely assaulted and was found with zip ties around his wrists. Detective Frank Reis of the Major Case Division was assigned to the case and worked with Officer Castillo to assist with the case. Detective Reis was able to close the case and determine several individuals were involved in the severe beating of the victim to include being robbed.

Detective Reis was able to obtain warrants for 20-year-old Angela Garcia, 36-year-old Maria Reyna Rodezno Marin, 22-year-old Ailton Lopes, and 43-year-old Johnathan Winston.

On Friday, January 24, 2025, Major Case Division was able to take Garcia, Reyna Rodezno Marin and Lopes into custody.

On Saturday, January 25, 2025, The Neighborhood Engagement and Enforcement Team (NEET) were able to locate Winston in Rockland, MA with the assistance of the Rockland Ma Police Department.

On Monday January 27, 2025, FRPD stated that all were arraigned in Fall River District Court on charges of Armed Assault to Murder, Home Invasion, Tampering with Evidence, Conspiracy, Firearm-Armed Kidnapping, Firearm-Armed & Masked Robbery, and Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (2 Counts).

At Monday’s arraignment in Fall River Superior Court according to court records, Lopes pled not guilty and was held without bail on dangerousness after being indicted on Unarmed Robbery and Assault & Battery charges. He has a pretrial conference scheduled for June.

Also, at a Monday arraignment in Fall River Superior Court, Winston pled not guilty and was held without bail pending an April 18th dangerousness hearing after being indicted on Armed Assault in a Dwelling and Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon charges.
