Two New Bedford residents arrested in Fall River July 4th shooting
Fall River Police have arrested two New Bedford residents in a 4th of July shooting.
According to Captain Daniel Dube, at approximately 11:00 p.m., patrol units investigated shots being fired at Ruggles Park and continuing to the area of Columbus Park.
The shooting victim stated that she was at Ruggles Park where a gathering was taking place. The victim began to argue with the suspect who retrieved a firearm and fired one shot in the air. The victim and her guest immediately returned to their vehicle and fled the area. The suspect then entered a vehicle and began to chase the victim. Both vehicles drove to the area of Columbus Park at which point the suspect fired numerous rounds at the victim’s vehicle striking the vehicle. Police found evidence of the shooting on Beattie Street.
None of the occupants in the vehicle were injured.
The suspect vehicle fled the scene after the shooting, according to Dube.
A follow-up investigation on the shooting by the Major Crimes Division identified and arrested both Jasmine Davis, 29 of New Bedford and Mauricio Pineda, 24, also of New Bedford.
