Two men held without bail on list of drug and firearm charges after arrest by Fall River Police

Fall River Police arrested two men on several drug and gun charges earlier this week.

According to police, on Monday, Detectives assigned to the CAST Unit were proactively patrolling the Corky Row area. At approximately 10:00 a.m., detectives observed a vehicle stop and engage in an interaction with pedestrians that was consistent with an illicit drug transaction. Further investigation confirmed those suspicions. Detectives subsequently followed the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop.

While conducting the stop and investigating the suspected transaction, detectives removed the two male occupants from the vehicle, identified as 29-year-old Dario Hamlin-Baxter of Brockton and 22-year-old Malachi Auguste of Mattapan. Detectives conducted a pat frisk of both individuals, as well as a protective sweep of the vehicle within the immediate reach of the occupants.

During the search of the vehicle, detectives located:

• 10.38 grams of Fentanyl

• A Mossberg .22 caliber AR-style pistol

• 23 rounds of .22 caliber ammunition

• 1 spent .22 caliber casing

• 1 clown mask

On the person of Dario Hamlin-Baxter, detectives located:

• 7.8 grams of Fentanyl

• 15.78 grams of crack cocaine

• 2 pills of suspected ecstasy

As a result of this investigation, the following charges were brought:

Malachi Auguste is charged with:

• Fentanyl, Trafficking in More Than 10 Grams (c.94C)

• Firearm, Carry Without License, Loaded, 2nd Offense

• Firearm, Carry Without License, 2nd Offense

• Firearm, Possess Large Capacity

• Firearm in Felony, Possess Large Capacity

• Feeding Device, Possess Large Capacity

Dario Hamlin-Baxter is charged with:

• Firearm, Carry Without License, 3rd Offense

• Firearm, Possess Large Capacity

• Drug, Possess to Distribute Class B (2 counts)

• Firearm in Felony, Possess Large Capacity

• Feeding Device, Possess Large Capacity

• Firearm, Carry Without License, Loaded, 3rd Offense

• Fentanyl, Trafficking in More Than 10 Grams (c.94C)

Court records show that on Tuesday at arraignment, both Malachi Auguste and Dario Hamlin-Baxter pled not guilty and were held without bail on dangerousness with a pretrial hearing scheduled for June 30th.
