Two men arrested, indicted in murder of Fall River man
BROCKTON – Two people have been indicted on charges in connection with the March fatal shooting of a 31 year-old Fall River man, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
At approximately 1:43 am on March 16, 2019, ShotSpotter alerted Brockton Police to shots fired in the vicinity of Grand Street and Main Street. Simultaneously, Brockton Police received several 911 calls reporting shots fired in the area of Grand Street. Brockton Police responded to the area and collected evidence as part of their investigation.
At approximately 5 am the same day, Brockton Police received 911 calls reporting a shooting victim that was located behind 1040 Main Street. Brockton Police, Fire and emergency medical personnel responded and the male victim was located and transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton where he was pronounced dead of his injuries. He was identified as 31 year-old Marco Rodrigues of Fall River.
Brockton Police contacted State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and an investigation commenced. Through video surveillance footage and witness interviews, investigators developed information that the two people indicted today were connected to the fatal shooting.
A Plymouth County Grand Jury late yesterday returned indictments charging Claudio DeBrito (DOB: 03/24/92) of Brockton, with one count of Second Degree Murder, three counts of Witness Intimidation, and one count each of Assault with Intent to Murder, and Assault and Battery on a pregnant woman. DeBrito is currently in custody.
Anderson DePina of Brockton was indicted on one count of Second Degree Murder, two counts of Witness Intimidation, and one count each of Assault with Intent to Murder and Assault and Battery on a pregnant woman. State Police sought and obtained an arrest warrant for DePina and he was arrested yesterday.
The men are scheduled to be arraigned in Brockton Superior Court at a later date.
