Two Massachusetts men accused of drug trafficking across the Bay State are facing charges.

According to Massachusetts State Police, on Monday, investigators from the Massachusetts State Police Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Teams — CINRET-West and CINRET-South — jointly conducted a narcotics investigation targeting two brothers, Elijah Tavares and Isaiah Tavares, who were trafficking fentanyl and cocaine from eastern to western Massachusetts.

Troopers developed information that the suspects would be in possession of a significant quantity of fentanyl at an apartment complex in Weymouth during the evening hours. CINRET-West immediately notified CINRET-South, and both teams coordinated efforts to intercept the suspects and seize the narcotics.

Surveillance was established by Troopers, along with Weymouth Police Department detectives at the Weymouth location. In the late evening, both suspects exited the apartment building simultaneously through separate doors.

Elijah Tavares exited the front door, and upon being approached by Troopers, resisted arrest. After a struggle, Elijah Tavares was taken into custody while in possession of fentanyl and cocaine packaged for distribution.

Isaiah Tavares exited the rear door of the building and was arrested with over 1 kilogram of fentanyl concealed in the front pocket of his sweatshirt.

A search warrant for the dwelling used by the Tavares brothers, and three vehicles associated with them, discovered; 4.5 kilograms of fentanyl; approximately 46 grams of cocaine; two loaded firearms with ammunition; a large amount of cash; and several pounds of marijuana.

Elijah Tavares and Isaiah Tavares were booked at SP Norwell for a multitude of narcotics, and assault charges.

This operation was made possible by the collaboration of State Police members assigned to the Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team, the Troop D Community Action Team, the Norwell Barracks, the MSP Air Wing, and detectives from the Weymouth Police Department.
