Two injured, one seriously, as firefighters rescue passenger from vehicle that crashed into trees on Route 95
One person was seriously injured Sunday afternoon after a crash on Route 95.
According to the Mansfield Firefighters Union, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Mansfield Engine 33, Rescue 36, a North Attleboro Engine, and a North Attleboro rescue were dispatched for a motor vehicle accident on Route 95 South.
The Mansfield companies arrived first to find a Mazda Miata convertible into a tree with the passenger of the vehicle trapped.
MFD stated that the passenger was conscious and alert with her right shoulder and arm pinned between the top of the door frame and a large tree branch. A chainsaw was used to remove other large branches and allow access to the passenger side of the vehicle. The jaws of life spreaders were then positioned carefully between the tree and the top of the door frame to slide her arm free. The passenger was then able to be lifted out of the car.
Mansfield Rescue 36 transported the passenger who had serious injuries to Rhode Island trauma center. North Attleboro also transported the driver to Rhode Island Hospital.
