Two from NH facing multiple charges after being arrested over 1-year-old’s death due to fentanyl
Two have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the death of a 1-year-old.
According to Londonderry Police, on Monday November 16, 2020 at 9:42 a.m., officers responded to 137 Rockingham Road, the RMZ Truck Stop, for a reported unconscious and unresponsive child located inside a vehicle in the rear parking lot. The day shift patrol sergeant was nearby, arrived on scene within one minute and performed CPR until LFD paramedics arrived.
The juvenile female, approximately 1 year and 9 months of age, was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased. An autopsy was later performed by the NH Office of the Medical Examiner and the cause of death determined to be acute fentanyl intoxication.
After several months of investigation, the Londonderry Police Department Detective Unit, in consultation with the Rockingham County Attorney’s Office, applied for and was granted arrest warrants.
Mark Geremia, 32, of Northfield, NH was charged with Class-B Felony charge of Negligent Homicide, Special Felony charge of Manslaughter, Class-B Felony charge of Reckless Conduct with a Deadly Weapon, Class-B Felony charge of Falsifying Physical Evidence, Class-A Misdemeanor charge of Receiving Stolen Property, Class-B Felony charge of Conspiracy to Commit Falsifying Physical Evidence, (3) Class-A Felony charges of Possessing Child Sex Abuse Images, and Two Class-A Misdemeanor charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Shawna Cote, 29, of Tilton, NH, was charged with Class-B Felony charge of Negligent Homicide, Special Felony charge of Manslaughter, Class-B Felony charge of Reckless Conduct with a Deadly Weapon, Class-B Felony charge of Falsifying Physical Evidence, Two Class-A Misdemeanor charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Class-A Misdemeanor charge of Receiving Stolen Property, and Class-B Felony charge of Conspiracy to Commit Falsifying Physical Evidence.
Londonderry Police Detectives were assisted by members of the Drug Enforcement Agency Manchester Field Office and NH Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in their investigation and by the United States Marshall’s Office District of N.H. Field Office in the apprehension of the suspects, who were located at an address in Northfield, NH on February 23, 2021.
Both Geremia and Cote were held on $10,000 cash bail and transported to the Rockingham County House of Corrections pending arraignment on February 24, 2021 at 1:00 pm.
