RAYNHAM — Chief James Donovan reports that the Raynham Police Department has arrested a man and a woman in connection with an armed home invasion and robbery that occurred on New Year’s Day.

As a result of diligent work by Raynham Police Detectives, Derek Martin, 32 and Jessica Toomey, 31, both of Fall River have been arrested. Both suspects have been charged with:

Armed Home Invasion
Wittness Intimidation
Threatening to Commit a Crime

On Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, shortly after 2 p.m., Raynham Police responded to a reported home invasion on Tearall Road. Upon arrival, officers were notified by the resident that a male and female had entered his residence, assaulted and robbed him at gunpoint of cash and a cell phone. The victim reported that the male suspect pistol whipped him causing injuries to his face.

The investigation determined that the incident was not random and that the suspects had previously been to the victim’s home.

Raynham Police obtained arrest warrants and located the suspects on Friday evening in Middleborough. They were arrested without incident.

Assisting in the investigation and apprehension of the suspects were the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, the Fall River Police Department Gang Unit and the Middleborough Police Department.

“This is a fine example of inter-agency teamwork at multiple levels,” Chief Donovan said. “State and municipal agencies came together to ensure that these two violent suspects will be made to face justice. This type of efficient teamwork across municipal borders should send a clear message to those who would seek to commit violent crimes in our communities.”

The resident sustained facial lacerations but declined medical treatment at the scene.

The suspects are being held by the Bristol County Sheriff’s Office at the Ash Street Jail and Regional Lock-Up in New Bedford, and they will be arraigned Monday in Taunton District Court.
