As a result of a three-month investigation by the New Bedford Police Department, two individuals were recently indicted by a Fall River Grand Jury in relation to a January 28 “shots fired” incident that occurred at an NBPD officer’s home on Yale Street.

According to New Bedford Police, Devon Jerre Heing, 24, of Melville Street, Fall River, was charged with unlawful possession of firearm, malicious destruction of property under $1200, and attempted assault by discharging a firearm.

Anh Pich, 30, of Melville Street, Fall River, was charged with vandalism, accessory to malicious destruction of property under $1200, and accessory to attempted assault by discharging a firearm.

Both will be arraigned in Fall River Superior Court on May 27.

At approximately 8 a.m. on January 28, NBPD were dispatched to the Yale Street residence on a report of past shots fired. During the investigation, Detectives learned that shots were fired around 2:30 a.m. Very early in the investigation a vehicle of interest was identified in the incident.

“It takes an incredible amount of time and effort for an investigation of this nature to take place and it’s worth it to ensure the public safety of our city. Credit for this outcome goes to all Officers who were involved with the initial response, Detectives, and the District Attorney’s office for its cooperation. With the conclusion of the investigation, we will be conducting an after-action report,” said Acting Chief Paul Oliveira.
