Two charged in alleged Fall River armed robbery after Marketplace meeting gone wrong

Fall River Police have arrested two people after an alleged armed robbery.
According to police, officers from the Patrol Bureau were dispatched to the 100 block of Hood Street for a reported armed robbery involving the theft of a bicycle.
Initial reports indicated that a 17-year-old had been robbed by two males, one of whom was believed to be armed.
The investigation revealed that the victim had listed the bicycle for sale on Facebook Marketplace (reported value $1,000). He was later contacted by a potential buyer who arranged to meet in person. However, it was determined that the suspects had ulterior motives and ultimately fled with the victim’s bicycle. Although no weapon was displayed, the victim reported that one suspect made movements consistent with being armed.
As officers converged on the area, Detectives from the Major Case Bureau observed the suspects fleeing the scene. They were able to recover the stolen bicycle from the two suspects, identified as Jared Fournier and a 17-year-old juvenile.
At Thursday’s arraignment, Fournier pled not guilty and was released on personal recognizance.
His next scheduled court appearance is in July.
