Trial set to begin in Fall River for 62-year-old New Bedford man accused of murdering son-in-law in front of victim’s 3 children, wife
The trial is set to begin Monday in Fall River Superior Court for a New Bedford man accused of murdering his son-in-law in front of his grandkids and the victim’s wife.
62-year-old Alfonso (Alphanso) Richards was arrested in Virginia along I-95 by the Virginia State Police in August of 2021 and later charged with murdering 23-year-old Naurik Michel-Brown of New Bedford.
According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 2:45 p.m. on August 9th, 2021, New Bedford Police responded to the area near the intersection of Ashley Boulevard and Belleville Road for reports of a shooting.
When first responders arrived on scene, they located a male victim, later identified as Michel-Brown. The victim was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where he was later pronounced deceased.
According to NBC 10, a witness stated that the two had been arguing before shots rang out.
The trial is expected to last about 4 days.
