Traffic stop leads to multiple charges including fentanyl trafficking for Brockton teen

EAST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Paul O’Brien reports that the East Bridgewater Police Department arrested and charged a man on drug charges Wednesday, Dec. 30 following a motor vehicle stop.

At approximately 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, East Bridgewater Police pulled over a blue 2020 Dodge Charger on Washington Street after observing multiple violations. During the on-scene investigation, officers located and seized approximately 41 grams of Fentanyl packaged for distribution, two cellular phones and a total of $95. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Zachary Vasconcelos, 19, of Brockton, was placed under arrest without incident.

Vasconcelos was charged with Trafficking a Class A Controlled Substance (Fentanyl), Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Use of Electronic Device while Driving (Cell phone), and Failure to Signal Turn

Vasconcelos was arraigned today in Brockton District Court.

“This arrest was the result of strong proactive police work, which allowed us to take deadly Fentanyl off the streets of our town,” Chief O’Brien said. “I commend the officers involved in making this arrest.”
