Tiverton woman killed in Route 6 crash in Swansea Friday
A crash has claimed the life of a local woman Friday.
According to Lieutenant Marc R. Haslam,at approximately 11:19 a.m., the Swansea Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 6 and Maple Ave. The crash involved a 1999 Toyota Corolla and Ford F476 dump truck.
The operator of the Toyota has been identified as Claudette Desilets, 81, of Tiverton, RI. The Ford was being operated by Brent Botelho, 39, of Swansea. Desilets was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by Swansea Ambulance where she was pronounced dead.
The accident is being investigated by Ptlm. Nicole Levesque assisted by Sgt. John Souza of the Crash Reconstruction Unit, Det. Jonathan Boyd and State Police Detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
Traffic was diverted from the scene for over 2 hours while officers investigated the crash.
No charges have been filed at this time.
