Tiverton Police looking for publics help concerning fatal crash that killed Westport man on Route 24

A local man is dead after a weekend motorcycle crash.

According to Tiverton Police, on Sunday just after 5:00 p.m., Officers of the Tiverton Police Department responded to Route 24 northbound for the report of a motorcycle crash. Dispatch advised the reporting female party stated the involved male party was unconscious, bleeding from the head with no pulse. Officers arrived on scene later identifying the involved male to be 27-year-old Michael C. Lees of Westport, MA. 

Upon arrival, officers found a 2003 gray Harley Davidson motorcycle heavily damaged with debris in the roadway. Preliminary investigation revealed Lees was traveling northbound on Route 24 in the area of Exit 4 on his motorcycle when he struck another vehicle resulting in the accident. 

Tiverton Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and transported Lees to St. Anne’s hospital for what appeared to be serious injuries. While at St. Anne’s hospital, Lees was later pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries sustained. 

Tiverton Detectives and members of the Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene. At this time, the accident remains under investigation for contributing factors.
