Tiverton Police issue updated on collision that injured man riding his bike
Tiverton Police have issued an update on yesterday’s crash involving a bicyclist.
According to police, on Wednesday, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers from the Tiverton Police Department and Tiverton Rescue responded to the area of 2970 Main Road for the report of a motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male bicyclist in the roadway suffering from injuries. Medical aid was immediately rendered on scene by responding emergency personnel and civilians prior to the arrival of first responders. The bicyclist was transported by Tiverton Rescue to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a northbound vehicle operated by a 23-year-old Tiverton woman struck the bicyclist as he was preparing to turn left from the roadway. The operator remained on scene and cooperated fully with investigators.
Dale Birkett Hayden who was on scene due to the incident taking place in the vicinity of her home, credited bystanders for reviving the man.
“Please pray for this man and the young woman who hit him as she was really shaken up as expected. A HUGE shoutout to the gentleman in this photo who immediately began CPR to get him breathing again and to the female physician here who jumped in a few minutes later to help until EMTs arrived.”

At this time, no charges have been filed. The crash remains under active investigation by the Tiverton Police Department.
The Tiverton Police Department thanked the civilians who immediately stopped to assist and provide emergency aid prior to the arrival of rescue personnel.
