Tiverton Police confirm fatal shooting at business was self-inflicted

Tiverton Police have released details concerning a fatal shooting at a business that took place late last week.

According to police, on Friday, at approximately 3:45 p.m., the Tiverton Police Department received a 911 call reporting a self-inflicted gunshot wound that occurred inside the firing range at Sakonnet River Outfitters, located at 777 Main Road in Tiverton.

Tiverton Police and Tiverton Fire Department personnel responded immediately to the scene.

Upon arrival, first responders located a subject who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. The individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Rhode Island Office of the State Medical Examiner responded and is assisting with the
investigation. The victim’s name is not being released at this time pending family notification.

This incident remains under investigation by the Tiverton Police Department.
