Tiverton cheerleading team headed to Nationals after success at New England Regionals in Springfield
The Sakonnet Schooners Youth Football & Cheer out of Tiverton, Rhode Island shared some fantastic news recently.
Their Mitey Mite cheerleading team is headed to Orlando, Florida in December to compete in the Pop Warner National championship Competition after success last weekend at the New England Regionals at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, MA.
When the 2024 season started, the Schooners Board set out to make some major changes and to build and restore the Sakonnet Schooners association which included fielding a 6U football team that had not been fielded in a few years.
On the cheer side, their Globals cheer team took first place in Atlantic City, NJ in February 2024. They now continue to prepare the Mitey Mites for their shot at a National Title!
Sakonnet Schooners hasn’t sent a cheer team to Nationals since 2013.
The group is starting a pop-up store on Wednesday to raise funds for the trip.
